My Short Story Trailer (maybe a book) Called Run

We ran through the woods, our feet stamping on the pine-scattered floor, my hair whipping my face, as I hear my pursuers closely gaining. I take a sharp left turn and twist my ankle on a fallen tree branch and roll down a slightly elevated slope down into a small cave. I hide inside of the small moss-covered cave while I try to listen if they are still chasing me. This feels like a sick and twisted game of hiding go seek. Only that it is in a Life-and-Death situation. I hear heavy boots slosh by me, for it has been raining all day. I quietly take out my knife and peek out from behind my small solitude.

They have left and I breathe out a small sigh of relief. I start to get up when I hear a twig branch behind me. My dark blue eyes flash to where I heard the twig snap. By then my arm is poised to throw and I throw the blade, and it lands right on target. It was one of my pursuers. I notice that, before I threw my knife, he was kneeling down with a goofy smile on his face and glazed-over eyes. I now realize that I have re-killed a dead man. I also realize that SOMEONE must have gotten him, because I also see that a spear is in his back. I open my jacket and grab out a knife in case I have to defend myself, but I realize who killed him- the boy who I came here with.

“Whats up? I thought you needed help with those.” He said to me on a nearby tree.

“Why would you think I would need help with them, Reign?”

“Oh, I don’t know, maybe because they he was about to put a knife in your back, Cierra?” He replied smartly.

I squinted my eyes at him.

“Okay, okay, can we just go back now?” I asked.

“Okay, okay, can we just leave now?” He replied, mimicking me.

I climbed up the tree and he and I climbed from tree to tree to our little base. When we got there, we noticed THEY were there, burning everything. When they saw us, the biggest one signaled to the others to chase us, and then we had to run.

New Book Recommending

NP cover createspaceThere is a new book by Charles David Carpenter and D.W. Jones called Necromancers’ Pride: Quest for Elderstone. It comes out January 2014 and is an adventurous fantasy epic novel with characters that you will fall in love with and hate others. I honestly think they will run out early so you best be getting one early.
