Things about me

Hola, you are reading BBE (Best Blog Ever). My name is Caiya and I am eleven years old. I love betta fish, animals, and funny catchphrases. I have a lot of friends and my favorite subjects are Lit./Eng. and Social Studies. My favorite sports are hiking, fencing, swimming, biking, basket ball, volley ball, horse-back riding, and mountain climbing. My friends say I am fun, wierd, (I am proud to be ‘not normal’) awesome, and smart. I like to read, play sports, adventure, blog, write, draw, play with my cat, and hang out with my friends. I have 4 people in my family (including me, and notice I said people not including pets) their names are Logan (6), Mom(41), Dad(41), and me (11). I don’t really have a favorite food because I am always trying new things. My nationalities are black, white, Mexican, Italian, French, Canadian, and there may be more.
My friends and I do something called The Mo Show. I play Co, a girl who can chage her eye, skin, or hair color whenever she wants, she is rich, and she owns a HUGE house. She has an annoying brother who is a yellow duck named Mo, and she has many jobs like:
Scientist
Special-Effects artist
Spy
Ninja
Inventor
Writer
We do The Mo Show every day… I love all my friends, they are awesome. Go to Spiegelman Scholars to see all of my friends’ blogs.

Our Teacher

Our teacher, is Mrs. Spiegelman. She is my FAVORITE teacher! The reason I think she’s awesome is because she likes reading, makes learning fun, and funny. She is preggers (pregnant) right now and her baby is a girl. Our whole class is planning to buy Mrs. Spiegelman (and the baby) cute little baby clothes like:
• socks
• bow ties
• vans (shoes)
• cute outfits
• jeans
• cute little hats and blankets
My class is well behaved for her because they like her, don’t want to lose privileges, and don’t want to offend her. Our teacher is awesome and you can visit her on Spiegelman Scholars. She is awesome. That is all.

Week 5: When I Met Aliyah Memory

When I Met Aliyah

Caiya: So, mom, where are we going?

Mom: To a little girl named Aliyah’s grandma’s house. Our family has know Aliyah’s for years. And you two are going to school together.

Caiya: I have a few questions… Is she nice? Is her name really Aliyah? Does she have any brothers? The most important one of all: DOES SHE LIKE SWIMMING!?

Mom: Um… Just ask her when we get there, okay?

Mom: Oh, hi, Melody (Aliyah’s Mom’s name). Nice to see you again. This is Caiya, and she’s here to play with your little girl.

Aliyah’s Mom: Hi, Caiya! Aliyah is out in the backyard, playing in the pool. Soon is pizza, okay?

Caiya: Okay, thank you.

(Caiya is thinking: there is a girl in the pool who is shorter than me, but also has curly hair. How do I introduce myself?)
Aliyah: OH HI! Are you Caiya?

Caiya: Yeah! Are you Aliyah!

Aliyah: Yup. Come in the water, it’s awesome!

Caiya: Okay.
(Caiya starts to take her scrunchie out, but is stopped by Aliyah.)
Aliyah: Hey! What are doing doing? Why are you taking out your pony-tail?

Caiya: Because I like feeling my hair in the water.

Aliyah: Hmm.

Caiya: Yup. Why do you need floaties?

Aliyah: BeCAUSE… I can’t swim, yet.

Caiya: I can, do you wanna play water-tag before pizza?

Aliyah: Sure!

Caiya (whispering to Aliyah): Who’s that?

Aliyah (says squinting at the little boy across from her): THAT is my brother- Gabriel.

Caiya: Ooh.

Aliyah: Mhm.

~Caiya and Aliyah had a great day, and are fantastic friends in 6th Grade, where they are now. ~

Week 4: An Illustrated Primer

Sharing Creative Works: An Illustrated Primer
A video by Alex Roberts, Rebecca Rojer, and Jon Phillips.
What do you do if you share something with someone but you don’t want them to share, copy, or remake your work? Is there something or some symbol to put on your work that states legally what you want people to do to your work? Well, there is.

Here’s a few:
Copyright laws- © people can’t use or share this work without my permission. For example, if a girl copies and pastes this for her homework, she can be sued because she didn’t ask me if she could!
Fair use means that people in the USA can’t use or share work without the creator’s permission. It’s similar to copyright.
Tip: Once you make something, it’s protected by copyright and you are the one and only creator.
Creative Commons (the symbol is a CC with a circle around it)- a free license you can use to protect your work. CC is used and works around the world.
Attribution (the symbol is a little unspecific man with a circle around him)- you have to mention the creator in their creation.
A dollar sign ( $ ) with a line ( / ) through it- people can’t change your work or make money off of it. Unless it’s just a dollar sign.
An equal sign ( = ) with a line ( / ) through it -you can make changes to it without asking for permission. If it has a line ( / ) through it, that means you can’t you can’t make changes.
Share Alike (the symbol looks like a C turned left with an arrow at the top)- if someone makes changes to your work, you can’t sell it. The terms you choose must be honored.
So basically, don’t worry, whatever you make, it’s all protected. And if any pirates try to steal your work, don’t worry, the law is on your side.
